RLV college of music and fine arts, new building Inaugural Ceremony



















RLV ( Radha Lakshmi Vilasam) College of Music and Fine Arts is situated in Tripunithurain in Ernakulam District, Kerala State.

One of the prestigious and premier institution , RLV College of Music and Fine Arts, Tripunithura, Kerala, presently known as “Shanthinikethan of South India” had a humble beginning in a single apartment belonging to the Cochin Royal family.

The institution was set up with a vision of upliftment of woman community, the then-King of  Cochin, H.H. Sri. Kerala Varma Mitukkan Thampuarn and his wife Smt. Lakshmikutty Nethyaramma invited experts in Stiching, Kaikottikkali, Painting, etc. to impart learning to girls and elder ladies so that they may utilize their leisure time fruitfully. This endeavor developed into an institution in the name of the King’s daughter Radha and wife Lakshmi and was named as ‘Radha Lakshmi Vilasam Academy’ incorporating Vocal music also.

In 1956, this institution was brought under the control of the government of Kerala and was renamed as RLV Academy of Music and Fine Arts. Diploma and Post Diploma Courses in Vocal Music, Bharathanatyam, Kathakali, Painting, etc. were started.

In the year 1998 , the institution was upgraded and affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottyam and the then existed Diploma and Post Diploma Courses were restructured as Degree and P.G. courses.
